Why Virtual Clinical Services?

Leveraging the latest in digital technology, Telstra Health’s Virtual Clinical Services is a solution incorporating virtual consultations (with doctors, specialists and psychologists) and coordination services to help enable safe, high-quality, Australian registered telehealth consultations with patients regardless of where they are based. Trusted by many health jurisdictions, networks, rural and regional care providers, Virtual Clinical Services is flexible and can be tailored to help meet your organisation's needs.

Virtual Clinical Services: Connect patients in rural and regional areas to clinicians using state-of-the art video conferencing technology, to conduct healthcare consultations simply via video or phone at a convenient time and location. Virtual consultations can help to reduce Emergency Department presentations, lengthy wait times to see doctors and specialists, and increase appointment attendance rates enabling patients to receive high-quality, timely care.

Virtual Coordination Services: Provide additional resourcing support and supplement existing coverage based on the level of demand in your organisation, such as 24/7 support to cover an after-hours gap. Our clinicians (including specialists and allied health professionals) are sourced and credentialed by Telstra Health, and are trained in virtual care program delivery. The solution helps ease the administrative burden associated with appointment scheduling and coordination, and enables patients to access the right care for them.

Additional information

Virtual Consultation

As part of the solution, Telstra Health can provide advanced video-conferencing technology so that your organisation can conduct video or phone healthcare consultations simply and at a convenient time and location. All consultations take place on a secure platform hosted and managed in Australia, so you can feel confident that your patient’s privacy and sensitive information is secure.

Video consultations are conducted in high-definition quality, with reliable connectivity, and can integrate with commonly used clinical diagnostic and other standards-based equipment without having to install additional third-party applications.

During a virtual consultation, patients can talk directly with a clinician to receive diagnosis information, advice, treatment, prescriptions and/or medical certificates (where appropriate). Virtual consultations helps save time, eliminate mobility constraints and increase accessibility to high-quality care, even for those travelling overseas who want access to an Australian registered doctor. Digital technology allows for patients to include family members and specialists during consultations with doctors and regardless of their location.

Virtual Coordination Services

Telstra Health offers a range of Virtual Coordination Services including access to a qualified national workforce of clinicians, workflow advice and virtual consult coordination.

All Australian registered clinicians, including doctors, specialists, and allied health professionals, are trained in virtual care program delivery under a robust clinical governance framework that includes credentialing and quality assurance. These services are provided across a secure, encrypted platform so that patients can receive referrals, prescriptions and exchange other documents pertaining to their health in a safe environment.
