Sunshine Private Hospital to implement Kyra Clinical EMR

Unitas Healthcare will rollout Telstra Health’s Kyra Clinical electronic medical record (EMR) system at the new Sunshine Private Hospital in Melbourne’s west.

Telstra Health Managing Director, Elizabeth Koff AM said: “We’re excited to provide Unitas Healthcare with a solution that enables a digital healthcare ecosystem for the greenfield hospital site using our interoperable electronic medical record as a foundation.”

"We look forward to working collaboratively with the Sunshine Private Hospital team to maximise the benefits it will bring to their clinicians and patients.”

Unitas Healthcare Chief Executive Dr Malak Sukkar said: “We understand that innovative, digital healthcare delivery means more efficient service provision. Delivering end-to-end digital healthcare with our partners, including Telstra Health will result in a seamless, secure experience for our team and for those in our care.”

“Telstra Health is helping us deliver what we see as a world class solution and our experience through commissioning has been exceptional.”

Telstra Health, Head of Hospitals and Connected Health, Chris Norton said: “Kyra Clinical is a clinically-led digital hospital solution that enables healthcare organisations to improve patient safety and patient experiences while supporting multidisciplinary care teams to work together to provide efficient patient-centred care on any device, helping staff spend more time with patients.”

Kyra EMR provides real time access to patient information anytime and anywhere including on mobile devices and enables peer-to-peer communication between all clinicians, clinical teams and patients while eliminating the need for paper.

Streamlining the delivery of clinical care, Kyra Clinical enables a smooth transfer of care between wards and theatres, eReferrals from consultations and medication management.

Unitas Healthcare, a new private healthcare operator majority-owned by private equity firm Belay Capital, will lease the Sunshine Private Hospital from the Australian Unity Healthcare Property Trust on a 30-year term once construction is complete in 2023.

Sunshine Private Hospital will initially operate a 30 bed medical and surgical ward, 21 bed mental health unit and plans to expand to 120 beds.

It will also offer IVF, day surgery, day chemotherapy, radiology, pathology, mental health services and will include four operating rooms and an endoscopy suite.

The hospital will be within the Victorian Government’s Sunshine Health, Wellbeing and Education precinct which includes the Sunshine hospital, the new Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s Hospital and a $51 million health teaching and training campus.

Sunshine Private Hospital will provide another private healthcare option to the population in Melbourne’s west, one of the fastest growing corridors in the country.
